Bridgeland Fundraising Society First Casino Fundraiser
CCA Bridgeland Casino Fundraising!
〰️
CCA Bridgeland Casino Fundraising! 〰️
We are thrilled to announce that our Bridgeland Fundraising Society has secured a casino fundraising event this year! This is a significant achievement for our community, and we’re incredibly excited about the opportunities it will bring to enhance our children’s educational experiences.
Why This is Huge
The funds raised from this event will directly support programs and activities that make a real difference in our students’ lives. Whether it’s field trips, extracurricular clubs, enhanced learning residencies (like dance, arts, or music), or even playground safety and improvements.
Please consider giving your time and getting your volunteer hours done!
Although casino volunteering may seem a little intimidating at first, you will be surprised at how smoothly things run, and how much fun it can be - especially if you sign up with family and friends!
All training is done at the casino, and a meal and/or snacks are provided.
We need volunteers for each time slot, and backup volunteers willing to be “on call to cover any positions as needed. Volunteers can work more than one shift but cannot change positions.
A brief description of the volunteer positions:
“The wait time from the original casino application until securing a date can take anywhere between 1 – 3 years.
The fact that we are hosting a casino in our 3rd year is a major accomplishment owing to all the hard work put in by the founding members of the Bridgeland Fundraising Society.
The team managed the incredible feat of getting the society incorporated and approved for a casino within a record amount of time.”
Thank you to those involved for all your incredible hard work!
FAQS
-
Money from the casino can only be used for approved funds as per the AGLC.
Some potential ideas are:
o Field Trips
o Extracurricular Clubs at school
o Residencies for enhanced learning (i.e. dance, fencing, arts, music, etc.)
o Playground safety and enhancement
o Musical instruments
From the AGLC website
“Gaming proceeds may be used to provide specific educational experiences for students
that are not recreational or social, not a curriculum requirement, and otherwise unavailable.
Gaming proceeds must not supplement operational or capital budgets – such as
renovations, additions, utilities or wages. Playground development, outdoor classroom,
science gardens, ETC. and/or hot lunch programs must have prior AGLC approval”
-
No. The Casino money is pooled together by quarter and by casinos in the same
city.
From the AGLC Gain Resource Manual.
“Pooling of casino profits (and losses) is mandatory. Pooling is done by city/region on a
quarterly basis. All groups licensed in the same city pool proceeds with other groups in
the same quarter. Pooled money is held by an independent trustee.
Quarter Time Period:
1.First Quarter — January to May
2.Second Quarter — April to June
3.Third Quarter — July to September
4.Fourth Quarter — October to December
At the end of the pooling period, AGLC releases funds to the individual groups. The
amount received by a group is an equal share of the pool less license fees and GST.
-
Casino money is pooled by quarter. The expectation is six to eight weeks after the
close of the pooling period.
-
Casino revenue varies as it’s pooled by quarter. The AGLC website gives an
average of $47,500 but previous casino recipients have been known to receive over
$60,000.
-
Our society is sending volunteers to work at the casino in roles that would otherwise be paid.
As the money is not based on how much money comes in during our event, it doesn’t require us to ask people to come and spend money.
